The A9 dualling programme has become a source of contention, with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak wading into the dispute during his visit to Aberdeenshire. Accusing the Scottish National Party (SNP) of “letting people down,” Sunak expressed concern over the failure to deliver the much-awaited A9 upgrade between Perth and Inverness by the promised date of 2025.
Sunak highlighted that the issue had already been brought to his attention directly. He emphasized the importance of a well-functioning and well-maintained road network for a thriving economy and the smooth functioning of people’s daily lives.
