Hundreds of golden retrievers and their devoted owners recently converged at the iconic Guisachan House in Glen Affric to celebrate the breed’s heritage. This historic gathering marked 155 years since the birth of the first golden retriever puppies at the ancestral home. Developed by Sir Dudley Marjoribanks, an esteemed aristocrat, the breed was specifically bred as a versatile gun dog suitable for the rugged terrain of the Scottish Highlands.
Golden retriever enthusiasts from around the globe, including the UK, continental Europe, North America, Australia, and Japan, flocked to the ruins of Guisachan House. Throughout the week-long event, a diverse array of activities such as talks, workshops, demonstrations, and a captivating night-time procession were organized at the site near Tomich, located south of Inverness, as well as the nearby village of Cannich.
